2017年の乳腺画像診断領域の動向として、今後増加が予想される「Radiomics」の研究と、今年も引き続き議論が続くであろう「dense breast」に関する話題を取り上げた。また、本特集のテーマに沿って、乳腺領域とAIについて私見を述べた。読者を刺激するところがひとつでもあれば幸いである。

Radiomics has got a lot of attention in radiology by its usefulness for automatically extracting large amounts of image features from medical images and analyzing enormous amount of information. Machine learning is the core of artificial intelligence and is advancing Radiomics. The low-sensitivity of mammography in women with dense breasts is a particular problem in younger women. It is a current hot topic which is a desirable supplemental breast cancer screening modality for women with dense breasts.
