乳房MRIは乳癌の検出感度が最も高いモダリティであり、本邦では乳癌術前の広がり診断を目的として用いられることが多い。欧米では乳癌ハイリスク群に対してのスクリーニングに多く用いられ、時間短縮した撮像・読影方法も提唱されている。今後は病変を検出するだけでなく、乳癌のサブタイプ予測やバイオマーカとしての利用にも期待されている。

　Breast MRI is the most sensitive modality in identifying cancers. In Japan, MRI is used for preoperative stating. In the United States and Europe, it is used for screening high-risk group of breast cancer, and the abbreviated method has been proposed. MRI is expected not only to detect th e lesion but also to predict breast cancer subtype and use it as a bioma rker.
