Summary
Intensity modulated radiation therapy(IMRT)is considered as standard care for locally advanced head and neck cancer, and its advantage was reported as reducing late toxicity such as xerostomia. IMRT was reported improving outcome for nasopharyngeal cancer. Although insufficient man power of radiation oncologists and medical physicists limit spared of IMRT in Japanese clinical practice. Further investigation such as particle therapy is believed to be encouraging.
